Healthy Energy Resources Founder & Aristotle-Air Co-Inventor, Terry Berden Receives Humanitarian Award
At its annual awards dinner attended by nearly 800 guests, the Traverse City, Michigan Chamber of Commerce presented the Distinguished Service Award to entrepreneur and humanitarian Terry Berden. Berden, president of Great Lakes Stainless, Inc. of Traverse City was shocked by the announcement, but Laura Oblinger, the Chamber’s Chief Operating Officer, says “this year’s recipient has given his time and talent beyond what one could imagine.”
Berden currently serves as the CEO of four different divisions of the custom fabrication company, including his newest venture, Healthy Energy Resources, a company devoted to creating healthier and more energy efficient indoor environments for schools. “We aim to create a new standard for healthier classrooms that will reduce student and teacher sick days across Michigan and beyond, it feels good to bring more of my personal passion to life even at ‘work”, states Berden. But the Traverse City Chamber of Commerce points out that “the hours he spends as CEO pale in comparison to the hours he donates to good causes.” When he is not at work, Berden’s time has been spent working with Goodwill Industries, the Father Fred Foundation, prison ministry programs, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northwest Michigan, and the Women’s Resource Center.
The Chamber’s Distinguished Service Award is among the region’s most enduring community service awards, dating back to 1929.
